What Is Insane?
Just a very short little ditty. With just hours until the 2024 election, this seems a pertinent question to ask.
What is insane?

Oh, that. Yea.
Can you think of anyone who has exhibited a lack of normal perception, a quality of madness, a state of extreme annoyance, acting foolish or illogical and exhibiting shocking or outrageous behavior but thinks they’re amazing?
No?
C’mon.
I’m sure you can.
Yea, that’s right.

Now, we’re, of course, not talking about a serious medical diagnosis, nor are we indicating a legal definition. We’re speaking colloquially, as the public seems to understand and use the word.
We have never seen such crazy, so loud, all at once. We know it’s insane, but we aren’t always acknowledging why it’s insane- how it works.
Donald Trump has a limited intelligence to begin with. Likewise, as a psychopathic malignant narcissist, he has no ability to empathize, sympathize, humanize or especially apologize.
But, he can strategize, monetize, patronize and connive. (I ran out of ‘ize’s.)
He’s only cognizant of what he wants out of each moment. His mind is a gallery of images depicting them, and he rattles them off as they occur.
For any con man, this is a standard technique- crowd reading- using it to pander to an audience by judging their appearance and moods, mentally picturing whatever local color will sell them and trying to voice it authentically.
But, Trump is also in severe cognitive decline.
He can no longer grab onto an image and expound on it. He can only blurt them out in fleeting moments. He doesn’t have all the words anymore, so everything sounds disjointed.
He wants to take credit, for example, for IVT protection, which he doesn’t actually support, but he can’t grab all the words, so he says he’s ‘the father of fertilization’. It kind of takes on a different meaning, doesn’t it?
Besides, everyone knows that was really Ben Franklin.
But, he didn’t have ‘in vitro’ in his brain as he spewed that out. That part fell on the floor in the hallway.
His reference to Hannibal Lecter is the same. He thinks the reference is immensely clever. In his head, he clearly sees the image he wants to paint- that foreign countries are emptying their insane asylums and flooding the US with ‘Hannibals’. But, he can’t say it. He can only eek out ‘Hannibal’ and ‘insane asylum’.
And because they come randomly and he can’t control them, he has to fill in the gaps with self-aggrandizement. ‘The Weave’. ‘Genius’. ‘Nobody ever did that’. Etc, etc, etc. Until the next image catches on. Or one returns.
So, really, even if you know the ‘code’, is still sounds like nonsense. And if you do know what he actually means, it’s even more batshit crazy.
Dementia is bad enough on its own, robbing the patient of normal, lucid perceptions, and there are countless ways for it to be manifest. We don’t call that insane. We know what it is.
But, when that combines with the most severe psychopathic malignant narcissist in public memory, who spits out tyrannical crap and outrageous accusations in random word salad gibberish mixed with patriotic platitudes and self-praise, and is running for the highest office in the world while still fighting 54 felony counts and convicted of 34,……. well, um…..
That’s insane.
