There’s always been a certain percentage of law enforcement officers who delight in abusing their authority. There’s no official record or chart to tell us how many are corrupt. We can say it’s rare or comparatively few, but we certainly can’t say it’s none.

Recall the old TV/movie plot where the hero is victimized by the corrupt local sheriff. Or framed by the cop on the take.

Then, we have all-too real horror stories like Breonna Taylor, a paramedic who was shot to death in her sleep by a group of officers breaking into her house looking for a suspect who was no longer there. Wildly firing 32 shots in the home, a half dozen went through the wall, striking Breonna.

But the Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) thugs are another thing altogether.

With their faces covered, and wearing no identification, ICE is using the same violent no-knock-no-ID tactics, such as invading a home in Oklahoma (!!) in the middle of the night, traumatizing a newly moved-in woman and her two little girls, who were not the people named in the warrant, forcing them out in the rain half-naked while they ransacked the house and took their computers, their phone and their money. Their money, for Christ’s sake.

Trump’s fascist vision relies on these immoral thugs carrying out his terror plans, just as Hitler used the Gestapo and the SS.

For Godwin’s sake, can we leave Hitler out of it for once?

No.

Because, while Trump may not seem like the gas chamber type, neither did Hitler at this early stage of his takeover, and Trump’s actions and words are nearly identical.

Hitler began with exactly these kinds of raids, taking or eventually killing anyone on the ‘bad’ list. Imprisoning them or destroying their businesses, looting their homes. Trump’s ICE is beginning to emulate the earliest days of this Gestapo behavior.

I know, it’s becoming old- the fascist trope- but it is what’s going on.

Language referring to race, gender or civil rights has been erased from government sites, and Trump is issuing Executive Orders demanding that universities eliminate any course or material that relates to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Personally threatening law firms to give him pro-bono legal aid or be barred from government buildings.

Deporting citizens and even rendering legal residents to a foreign death camp, which is actually a little bit ahead of Hitler at this point. He didn’t start setting up the death camps in Poland until the number of Jews imprisoned was too big to deal with in Germany without people finding out about it.

Trump is just disappearing people on the premise that they’re criminal gang members without showing any proof and he doesn’t care who knows about it.

But, it’s the same with all of his malice and grift.

He doesn’t care that we all see him monetizing his presidency with bribes and crypto (bribes). What Emoluments Clause? He didn’t care about buying a Tesla from Musk on the White House grounds. What Hatch Act? But, then, he was glad to meet with world leaders Netanyahu and Orban at Mar-A-Lardo (hehehe) while he was out of office. What Logan Act?

The question we want to answer, and the immediate problem we have to solve, is why are these ICE agents so willing and eager to abuse people? Who the hell is being recruited to carry out this heinous campaign of terror and how the hell do they live with themselves?

For example, it might be informative to know how many ICE officers on these raids have affiliations with white supremacy groups like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers. Are any of them newly hired pardoned J6ers?

I mean, you got to be one serious f-ing scum bucket to want to put on a mask and body armor so you can roust a guy out of his truck at the gas station and just leave his two kids there alone. Or to yank a legal resident from their citizenship hearing and render them abroad.

Because, while the cops that murdered Breonna Taylor were local and screwed up, ICE agents are acting intentionally, nationally, regardless of state borders or laws. And, once they take someone, they are immediately transferred to another state far away, and become increasingly difficult to track. Or, retrieve.

That is, if they’re not already jammed onto a plane in handcuffs and chains and sent to El Salvador to spend an indefinite period in their CECOT death camp prison. We have no idea how many people are being disappeared every day. Private planes are continuing to take people to El Salvador ‘under the radar’ even as Trump dodges the Supreme Court order to bring Abrego Garcia and the others on these flights home.

Abductions are increasing, even as those we know about are being defeated in court. Cars being smashed, kids being left in cars after dragging away the father, they’re every bit as brutal as the SS.

Don’t let anyone fool you. ICE is the new Gestapo.

Now, I know, we were all looking forward to an entertaining Ice Capades review a la ‘Springtime For Hitler’, but, that was impossible, mostly because no skaters would stoop to portraying ICE agents.

But, suffice to say, as long as these maniacs are on the loose at the direction of Nosferatu Miller, we’re all skating on thin ice.
