Gestapo On ICE II- But, It’s Too Hard to Follow the Law!
Besides, Real Criminals Might Shoot At Us!
So, finding things is hard.
Finding people is very hard.
Finding undocumented people is really hard.
Finding criminals is really really hard.
Finding undocumented criminals, then, would be really, really, really hard.
So, hard, in fact, that ICE has decided not to bother with it.
I know, they said that they’re only arresting criminal gang members, but they don’t know who any of them are. Finding them would require, um, investigations, you know, police work. It would be especially tedious to have to track down actual evidence of gang violence and and find and arrest the people incriminated by the evidence.
They don’t have time for that shit.
They’re under orders to ‘deport’ 3000 ‘criminals’ (people) per day, which is two furlongs past impossible.
According to Trump, they’re going to ‘deport’ 21 million of the 11 million undocumented aliens in the US.
I know, it doesn’t ‘math’. We’ll get back to you.
Anyways, how are they going to do it?
Well, they can’t, of course.
So, instead, they wondered, gee, where can we find immigrants that we can just say are illegal gang members?
Wait! I know!!
Immigration! Duh!
So, this is their tactic. Going where people already in the immigration system are going to be. Like court, for their hearings, or the immigration offices where they attend appointments, or the jobs they’re listed as working at through immigration or IRS records.
Now, predominantly legal immigrant residents are being kidnapped almost exclusively. We all know damn well that if they had an actual gang member and could show evidence of their crimes they would plaster it all over the inter-webs.
But the most they can do is to lie through their teeth about the people they can catch.
As long as he can maintain the fiction that any and every undocumented immigrant is completely criminal because it’s illegal to be here, Trump will feel justified and safe in continuing. The rush to conflate all undocumented immigrants with the worst possible hypothetical criminals is not just a tactic- it’s the base of the entire campaign.
It’s the old ‘if he’d break this law, then he’d break any law’ nonsense. When they say that, ask how many DUIs they have.
Abrego Garcia, for example, even though he was admittedly taken by mistake, was baselessly accused in public of being a gang member, terrorist, wife-beater and human trafficker, though there was no evidence whatsoever for any of it.
Now, Trump’s DoJ have launched their ‘plan’ to exonerate the regime by indicting Garcia for human trafficking, based on the 2022 traffic stop where he and his 8 passengers were not detained or ticketed. While it means that he is, indeed, back in the US and thankfully out of El Salvador’s notorious CECOT prison, it’s still just another ruse to discredit critics of his treatment.
Stephen ‘Nosferatu’ Miller has already repeated the most heinous false allegations as part of his announcement of the indictment.
They need this fiction because if the truth were known, they’d be called on it.
But, it’s a fiction only their hardcore base believes. So, it has to be used with discretion. Political discretion. That’s why they’re not raiding red states like Texas and Florida that are overflowing with undocumented immigrants. They’re targeting the blue states because that’s where the Trump regime wants the chaos. They can’t find actual criminals, so they take legal folks, which is even more traumatic, and gives quicker rise to the revolt they want to trigger to institute martial law and suspend the Constitution.
And, they’re pouncing on Los Angeles because they regard it as ‘libtard central’. Trump wants violence in California because he thinks it will prove to his base that he is ‘taking America back’.
Attacking immigrants at Home Depot, in restaurants, even dragging parents away from their elementary school children’s graduation ceremonies. There is no respect for anyone or anything in their way.
Trump is purposely escalating the situation as he continues to post more armed federal troops and claim publicly that Los Angeles has been ‘occupied’ and the whole city is burning. He said the same things about Portland during the BLM riots, and in both cases, less than a city block was involved in the entire event.
It’s not. It wasn’t. They aren’t. Just don’t.
But, California is one of Trump’s worst political and ideological enemies. So, of course, he’s telling everybody that LA has become a dystopian hellscape because of liberals and immigrants.
We can’t afford to ignore the fact that this is not a test, but the actual start of fascist police-state forced order. The One Big Bullshit Bill now in Congress would give Trump complete immunity from court orders and contempt, forbid judges from placing national injunctions on his orders, and multiply the budget for ICE , as well as remove borders on their activities..
This is the plan- attack blue cities. Eject brown people. Depress the urban economy and try to marginalize black people again. Allow only white immigrants. Control and alter recorded history and science, replacing them with ideological fictions, banning public benefits and we’ve seen all of this before people and we went over there and kicked their ass for it and led the world in, well, opposing oppression.
This is all definitely straight out of the culture war side of Project 2025. It’s an intentional affront to everything the Constitution says, everything our Founders stood for, and everything we’ve learned about it and them through the years. (And, if they dared to read them, it’s an affront to Jesus and the Gospels, for that matter.)
The thing about despotism is that it’s one of those Dunning-Kruger kind of things. They think they’re in control, but, ultimately, they’re not. The more they alienate their own citizens with ideological laws and punish their businesses with depressed, chaotic markets, the less control they have.
When people stop spending, the money dries up and business has to side with the people to regain their revenue streams. Even the armed forces must inevitably turn against the state rather than harm their own people.
This was Mussolini’s downfall. His own people rejected him, business was in shambles, his army abandoned him and American GIs were welcomed as liberators all across Italy.
That’s gonna happen to Trump. Sort of. I mean, I doubt they’ll hang him by his feet for a week, but, big business and the army ghosting him- yea, eventually.
People are not gonna put up with this fascist shit for long and both politics and business will suffer for it. Voters, given the chance, will undoubtedly reject MAGA next time around and for a while thereafter, but, business?
Businesses have too long embraced under-the-table illegal workers as a cash cow. If they got what Republicans say they want, the nation would lose about $100B that undocumented immigrants pay here in sales and income taxes.
And, that’s the really surreal part of this whole fascist takeover. Republicans and corporations have spent the better part of forty years raking it in off of illegal immigrants with lowered wages and added consumption. They all pay rent and buy goods here- in our markets- to the tune of around $300B!
So, the nation may have as much as $400B per year in revenue from undocumented immigrants on the line here. And, that is conservative money, folks.
If ICE were to raid Las Vegas casinos for undocumented workers, they’d shut down the whole town in a day. Almost every cook, dishwasher, busboy and janitor is an undocumented alien. And many of the hotel maids.
Same with Miami, or Phoenix, or most of Texas. All have a concentration of undocumented workers. New York or Chicago or Detroit, for that matter. It’s hard to find a major city with no undocumented immigrants. And, they all seem to be working, too.
US corporations allowed this to happen because they didn’t want to pay what Americans would take to do those jobs. They loved undocumented workers because they could get around many government requirements and laws.
They made more by paying them less and they made money by charging them rents and selling them things.
And, now, they have to go along with the politicians that helped them, and that means supporting outright vile fascism.
Go figure.
They didn’t.
Wall Street did not see this coming nor did it ask for it. Screwing with the economy this way will affect everyone up and down the scale.
They really should have seen it coming a mile off, though. They all have the demographic savvy to know where the majority is politically, and where their customers fall in it. It was their money that put Trump over the top, their support of the propaganda machine that stoked his victory. Their tacit acceptance of the culture wars through ambiguity or supplicance that enabled Trump to commit his fascist auto-coup.
It’s a pretty damn steep price to pay for a 2.6% tax break- all of this Nazi shit will cost trillions. Consumer confidence and spending will go down. Fearful people don’t go out much. With that and his tariffs, inflation is likely to spiral out of control as well.
All of the culture wars attacks and campaigns will drive the national debt up by trillions of dollars.
Hell, between Trump’s ridiculous birthday tank parade and the cost of deploying soldiers to LA, there’s an unbudgeted $200M blown in a week right there.
Destroying the US financial market will absolutely destroy all of us.
Nobody is safe in a fascist regime, least of all the billionaire backers who think they’re in charge.
They’re not.
Trump’s lunacy, Miller’s hate and Vought’s religious zealotry are calling the shots, not the oligarchy.
And, ICE is just shooting fish in a barrel so they can bring home a catch.
But, like their progenitor, the Gestapo, ICE is the public face of fascism in the US. Their current tactics in LA belie their larger orders. They are executing a fascist regime agenda that involves both ethnic and political cleansing, and they are already far beyond the law and the Constitution. We’re getting into crimes against humanity, here, folks. It’s just a matter of time until they begin using live fire.
This will not end well. Fascism never does.
We must nevertheless see to it that it does, indeed, end.
